You are my hope, O God.  I will place my trust in You.

Isaiah 52-53    

1. What man is this now laid to rest 

In Mary’s arms, held tightly?

Abused and beaten, crucified,  

A man who seems so unsightly?

This, this is Christ, the Lord, 

Who died for us of His own accord.

Praise, praise the Son of God,  

The Suffering Servant, Jesus.

2. O why did we treat You callously?  

O why did we spurn Your love so free?

Our sins You bore upon Yourself  

Now washed away completely.  

3. So let us enter that stone-cold tomb 

To die with Him who so loves us.

His mercy great now frees us from  

The Father’s awesome justice.
